Angkor Golf Resort Sign-up Local Golfer Tevy Sareoun
16-year-old, Tevy Sareoun will fulfil the role of Angkor Golf Resort, Academy Ambassador. Tevy has been working with Head Professional Alan Martin since his appointment at the Resort last June. As an insight to the work the pair have done, you only have to look at her recent performance in the Faldo Series Qualifying where she posted scores of 84, 79, this was her first tournament score below 80. In comparison to last years’ event (June 2015) where Tevy posted scores of 106 and 91. A significant 34 shots better over the two rounds, almost 1 better every hole played.
The new role for Tevy commenced on the 1st of April 2016. A two-year contract has been signed between all parties concerned and will see Tevy become more involved at the resort, in particular with the Academy and the Junior Development Program. To mark the contract Tevy has purchase some new equipment from Cobra Golf that she put straight into play for the recent Faldo Series and Angkor Golf Resort have provided access to the golf course and practice facilities in addition to supplying Tevy with a branded new wardrobe from Puma Golf.
Tevy will represent & promote the Resort/Academy throughout her golfing travels in addition to the time she spends honing her skills at Angkor Golf Resort.
“It’s great to have Tevy join the team here at the Academy, who better help us grow the game than a local role model to the hundreds of local students. In her relatively short golfing career Tevy has travelled around the region to compete at Tournaments in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, what great experiences to share with local youngsters looking to take up the game” Alan Martin, Head Professional
Tevy will strive, at the Academy, to become an elite student of the historical game of golf under the continued guidance of her coach Alan and the rest of the team at Angkor Golf Resort. Her ambitions are to reduce her handicap to scratch (0) by the time she reaches 18 years old, a bold but realistic target if her progress continues in similar fashion to the past twelve months.
"I never imagined it possible to be an ambassador for the golf academy at Angkor Golf Resort. For me, it is a wonderful opportunity to gain more experiences from my coach Alan Martin and in return I can use these skills to teach the students involved with the junior development program. Hopefully one day we can form a solid team at the academy to represent Cambodia at International Events I would love golf to be recognized as a well known sport in Cambodia like in other countries such as Thailand” Tevy Sareoun, Angkor Golf Resort, Academy Ambassador.
Tevy will next compete in the famous Angkor Amateur Open in August followed by the New Club Championship at Angkor Golf Resort in September.
