ASIA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP SIEM REAP – A ROARING SUCCESS

Siem Reap, Cambodia, 17 November 2019 – Over 50 Golfers from a dozen countries teed off at the inaugural Asia Golf Championship in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The event consisted of two rounds  at the Sofitel-managed Phokeethra Country Club and Angkor Golf Resort.

The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with both golf course in great condition and host hotel Lotus Blanc putting on two spectacular evening functions for the players.

After two days of competitive golf it was American Tim Marlowe, now residing in West Timor, who took the title with scores of 34 and 37, a total of 71 stableford points. He was closely followed in Papi Reddy our round 1 leader from India with scores of 42 and 28, a total of 70 points. David Collins from Hong Kong came third with 69 points, with Julie Collins, his wife, winning the ladies with a total of 64 points over the two days. Finally Henry Chiew took home the gross prize with scores of 76 and 77, a 153 total.

“Tim Marlowe, the first ever Asia Golf Championship Champion was delighted, and commented :This has been the best event in which I have ever played. It was amazing to win, especially with my wife and young children here, which made it that much more special.” He continued “The event has been organized seamlessly from start to finish, and my whole family was even made part of the entire experience. I am really looking forward to many more tournaments with the FORE and Golfasian team.’

Chris Watson, Tournament Director of the Asia Golf Championship said that “It has been a fantastic week with golfers from over 12 countries taking part. The atmosphere and comradery has been fantastic and a lot of new friendships have been made.” He continued “Both courses were in fantastic condition and the host hotel went above and beyond on the evening functions, a fantastic start to the Asia Golf Championship, Thank you Siem Reap!”

The Asia Golf Championship is a series of 3-day golf events across the South-East Asian region with the next event being held in Bangkok from 28 February – 1 March 2020.
